The international Airport (Almaty, Kazakhstan) has been constructed in 1935. Till 1990 was a part of the KUGA. On April, 26th 1991 the Airport Alma-Ata «is reorganized in» Airport Alma — Ata ''. Since 1993 is independent structural unit. In 1994 it is transformed to Open Company «Airport of Almaty» which assignee is joint-stock company «International Airport of Almaty».
The reconstruction of a runway which is equipped by the newest means corresponding to the international standards of ICAO has been made for good safety and reception of comfortable modern liners at the Almaty airport in 1998.
After the end of reconstruction of a runway and its reception, the II category and the status of the International Airport has been appropriated to the Almaty airport.
 The airport has a favourable geographical location on the way from Southeast Asia to the Europe and back. The Great Silk Way from China in other corners of globe passes through city since olden days. The high status of the leading airport of Republic obliges to constant perfection and improvement of quality of rendered services. Therefore one of priority directions in the program of actions of a management of the Almaty airport is modernization of means and accordingly improvement of professional skill of the personnel.
Now the management of Open Society International Airport carries out huge work on attraction to the airport of Almaty of new airlines for fulfilment of technical landing and a cargo-transportations such wide-body air courts as the Boeing 747. Use of the airport of Almaty for refuelling ВС В747 bears economic gains for the airlines, connected with possible increase in useful loading ВС.
- contructs are concluded on granting of ground service and from October there are begun carrying-out of flights by airlines Volga-Dnepr, Airlines Antonov, and also negotiations are carried on with representatives of airline Flight, maintaining cargo ВС An-124 (Ruslan);
- Flights by airlines Gazprom and Dobrolet on ВС Il-76 have started to be carried out; regularity — 4 flights a week;
- Offers on mutually advantageous cooperation are received and carried on negotiations with representatives of the international airports Hanover, Frankfurt, Berlin, Gander;
- Spadework on the organization of negotiations with representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Luxembourg on attraction airline Cargolux to flights with landings in airport Almaty, and also with representatives of airline China Southwest Airlines (China) are spent.
 Many leading foreign airlines already use airport both for carring out of regular flights, and for realization of technical landings. Among them: Lufthansa, Korean Air, KLM, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, China Xinjiang Airlines, Iran Air, Transaero, Volga-Dnepr, Air France, airlines EL AL Israel Airlines and Air Freighting Express LTD, FedEx Express.
The high status of the leading airport of republic, and also constant modernization of means at the international airport of Almaty dictates necessity of constant increase of a professional level of employees. The maximal result is reached by means of purposeful personnel selection with use of effective system of selection and placement of personnel
